I’ll never forget the first time I saw this; it was late in high school, not long after I’d finished watching the series proper. The ending had left me filled with dread and unease. I rented Fire Walk With Me as soon as I could, desperate for some sort of resolution.
Then I got it. I still don’t understand how this engendered so much hatred. Not only is it a great movie in its own right but it ties up many a loose thread from the series as well (in a vague, Lynchian way, naturally). This last shot put me completely at ease; it reassured me that Cooper ultimately escapes the Lodge and Laura finds redemption. I think it’s fucking beautiful.
Holy fuck.
On the one hand, this was one of the greatest episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
On the other hand, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!
We have to wait a motherfucking year until we get to find out what happens next!?
This is why I hate watching TV shows while they’re still on the air. DVDs and torrents have completely spoiled me. I’m used to watching dead shows in their entirety over the course of a few weeks, which is most appreciated after watching an episode like this and being desperate to see the story continue.
I understand that Mad Men is a Serious Show and that the Drapers’ words and actions will probably have some very negative consequences re: their kids and that it is Not Funny.
However.
I think this is my favorite cut in the show so far, and that it is hilarious.
This is the best episode of The Simpsons (“Cape Feare”).
From the best season of The Simpsons (#5).
I’m not interested in hearing your opinion on the matter, because unless it is “You are 100% correct in your assertions”, it is WRONG.
