Beastie Boys, “Pass the Mic”

I have zero ironic distance with this one. The Beastie Boys were a major formative influence on me growing up, and hearing that MCA died today made me pretty damn sad.

Check Your Head was the favorite record among my friends and I (we didn’t get into Paul’s Boutique until much later), and for me, this was always the jam. MCA mowed down MC’s like he was mowing the lawn.

RIP Adam Yauch
